Barack Obama
One's background influences a person's responses to life events. Sometime one's response impacts the lives of many in a profound way. Barack Obama is a perfect example of this. He was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961. He grew up in a single mother home who did not have much money. His parents got seperated when he was just two. His father, after he returned to Kenya, died in a car crash. He also grew up in many different places which exposed him to many different political views. He also had a vast political background. He was in the Illinois state senate which had him working with both republicans and democrats. He was also part of the U.S. senate. THis shows that he knows his politics. Showing his humane side, he helped the many Katrina victims restore their homes. He is a very well educated man. He attended Harvard and became the first african american president of the Harvard Law Review. This shows his role as a leader. This also shows he is dedicated and very hard working.
Joe Biden
One's background may greatly influence what they believe in. Joe Biden is a good example of this. He was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on November 20, 1942. He was born into a family with four siblings. The economy in Scranton was quickly declining and his dad could not find work. When Joe was 10 they moved to Delaware. He enrolled at the Achmere Academy in September of 1957. He soon transfered to the University of Delaware where he recieved a bachelor of arts and a double major in political science and history. This shows not only that he has strong points of view but he was educated to be in politics. Soon after that he attends law schol.Soon after that, he begins to work at a law firm. Then, he was elected Delaware's senator. He was re-elected in 1984. He has also tried to run for president in the 1987 election.
John McCain
John McCain was born on August 29, 1936. He grew up with an older sister and a younger brother. He also attended somewhere around 20 schools. This exposed him to many diverse cultures. He later attended college at the United States Naval Academy. Then, while at war, he became a prisoner of the enemy. THis made him tougher and he grw alot as a person. He is now running for president a second time. When he retired from the Navy he was a captain. Seeing that he has a strong military background he is probably pro-war.He also served two terms in the House of Representatives. He then lost his bid for the 2000 election to George W. Busch. This shows his leadership and perseverance, and determination.
Sarah Palin
As the first woman for Vice President Sarah Palin offers drastic change. She was born on Febuary 11, 1964 in Sandpoint, Idaho. She was born into a family with three other children. Her family decided to pack it up and move to Alaska when she was just an infant. In 1982, she enrolled st Hawaii Pacific College but soon transfered. Interview

on Monday, October 6, 2008

I sat down with my mom and interviewed her about her views on the election. This was her response:

1. Who do you support and why?
I support John Mcain because I am a republican and I like Palin's views on the issues.

2. Do you fully agree with their views on the issues?
No, I do not agree with his plan to increase taxes.

3. Is there anything you will be skeptical about if he won?
Yes, I would wonder how he plans to take care of the average middle class family.

4. Do you like or dislike their running mate?
Yes because Palin seems honest and truthful.

5. How did your parent influence how you now vote?
They voted all Republican which is how I now vote.

Reflection

From this I learned a lot about my mom and her political views. I learned that people around you can often influence your political views and change the way you vote. The party also plays a big part in who certain people chose.

California

on Sunday, October 5, 2008

I chose to track California because I have always wanted to visit there and in science we discussed the importance of offshore drilling. This is a predominately a democratic state. Barack Obama was leading in all the polls I researched. This state is predominatly republican so therefore they are mostly voting for John McCain.

Since this is a mainly republican state we can predict how they are going to vote. It is safe to say that California will probably vote for John McCain. This could help him win or it could help him lose by not as much. We will find out soon enough.

Views on Technology

on Saturday, October 4, 2008

Technology is very important in this election because we are improving our technology at such a rapid rate. John McCain understands technology and will hire people who are skilled in technology throughout the government. Obama will appoint a Cabinet-level chief technology officer to oversee U.S. tech policy. McCain hardly uses internet or email as opposed to Obama who is constantly on his blackberry.
